Kristine & Konrad: engaged

December 27, 2009

Kristine and Konrad were introduced to me by Sonia over at Cornerstone Events a few months ago at a coffee shop.  How did you know I’m a caffeine addict!  It’s like I was meant to be your photographer!

Kristine and Konrad were very laid back and trusted me with their engagement session.  Just the way I like it!  The only request they had was that there be no barns involved. No. Barns.  So I took them to the one place we were guaranteed to not find any barns.  Downtown Calgary.  Olympic Plaza to be specific.

I had an awesome time on this shoot.  My only regret was not having more time with them even though our fingers and toes were ready to freeze off!  I’m looking forward to your wedding in 2010, and I’m already envisioning what the follow up session is going to be like.  In a single word: rad.

Vanessa & Darrin: Engaged

December 21, 2009

Ok I lied!  I’m doing one more quicky post before I shut down for the season.  Vanessa and Darrin’s wedding is creeping up quickly – 2 weeks! – so I wanted to just put up a couple of photos that we got from their engagement session this week.

This series is one of my absolute favourites.  Can you not see the happiness they bring to each other in this set?

The boys got some mad crazy hops!  For a white guy.

Happy Holidays!

December 21, 2009

I hope you have a wonderful holiday season!  I’m closing up shop until December 27, 2009 to take time to enjoy the season of  love and warmth with my family.  I’m looking forward to hearing from all you newly engaged couples for 2010!  It’s going to be a great year!

Cookies and Milk. And Cold.

December 12, 2009

What better thing to do on a cold winter night in Calgary than to stay in and make homemade chocolate chip cookies paired with the most expensive and over the top decadent glass of store bought milk?  I’ll tell you what’s better.  Nothing.  Unless its my awesome wife who is doing the baking.

I just take pictures.

I had a blast photographing my last Calgary wedding of 2009 and it was a wedding I won’t soon forget.  Steph and Danny asked me to be their wedding photographer almost a year ago. I was excited to be there for them, if for no other reason than Stephanie’s excitement.  Danny, I know you were excited too, but it’s still all about Stephanie man.

The weather cooperated with us and we were able to get some awesome images to go along with their incredible day.

If there is a better way to end the 2009 season then I don’t know what it is.  You two are amazing individuals with a genuine love for one another, and it shows.  I also want to give a shout out to your families as they treated me like gold.  You are surrounded by amazing people and it is clear that their traits and personalities are reflected in you.

Their same-day slideshow is shown below

Ceremony: Corpus Christie
Reception: Al Azhar Shriners Temple

Steph is an unbelievably stunning bride…but don’t just take my word for it.

This photo needs to be enjoyed on its own.  When I saw what they were wearing, I instantly thought, vintage Hollywood.  Steph has that glamour about her from head to toe, including her mother’s shawl to keep her warm. Danny is all Rat-Pack like – and he’s got it right;  if you’re gonna wear a tux, do it with a bowtie.  Otherwise, every man should have a custom tailored suit.  Very dapper, and very classic my friends.

I think this series of photos are some of my absolute favourite.  The lighting was gorgeous and helped highlight a stolen moment.  I love sneaky photography!
