Pardon the Absence

I’ve been neglecting my blog lately even though I’ve been shooting a bunch of delicious images for my amazing clients over the last few weeks.  “Y U SO LAZY TLAW?!”  Remember the blog post with the beautiful maternity photos of my wife?  Well, she’s pregnant no more….

Welcome to our lives adorable Mini-Law!  My wife and I introduced this gorgeous, sweet, and lovable creature into our lives a couple of weeks ago, and I’ve been spending all my available time with her.  I’ve taken the equivalent of “new baby leave” from work and have been enjoying the best 2 weeks of my life!

Thanks for being patient with me as I neglect my blog and nuzzle my baby girl.  I’ll be posting some tear-inducing images of amazing weddings and gorgeous engagement photos soon enough, but for now, enjoy this image of my #1 girl and my newest #1 girl.

“Love” is Insufficient

It’s funny that with other people’s special days, and other people’s moments, it’s so easy to open your eyes and see the events that are happening right in front of your eyes.  To keep the camera up to my eyes. A simple click of the shutter.  There it is, the decisive moment trapped in time.  Then to come back to my desk and to say a few words about the wonderful day that I saw unfold in front of me.  Oh how easy it is to say a few lovely sentences about my beautiful clients.

I’ve tried writing this blog post for the past 3 weeks now.  Type type type type.  Delete delete delete delete.  Type type type type. Wash, rinse, repeat.  Funny how words now seem to escape me.  I can’t seem to string together more than 2 sentences to tell my beautiful wife how much I love her.  How much I love that she is carrying our firstborn.  How much I love the little boy/girl growing inside of her.  How easy it is to love someone that you’ve never met, and the only communication you’ve had till now is the sound of their little heartbeat.   I simply do not possess the vocabulary.

I’m not a very emotional person, but somehow, my heart beats faster, and I can feel myself getting choked up every time I think of these two.  This was the first time I’d ever cried while taking photos.

The word “love” seems insufficient. To Terra and my soon to be born child – you two are my everything.  This is more than love.

Tricia Bennett Wow, wow, wow. So beautiful and so meaningful. My fav is the one with the sun flare on Terra’s belly illuminating your baby like a tiny “hello, I’m in here”. Such a lucky little one to be born into a family with an abundance of love.

Wang Family Photos: Calgary Family Photography

calgary family photography location

It is always such a privilege to capture milestones in a couple’s life.  I first had the honour of being Meagan and Jonathan’s Calgary wedding photographer just under two years ago and I was thrilled when they contacted me to capture some special images of their new family of three!

Thank-you again for letting me come in to your lives and photograph a very special time for you.  If only for a brief moment.  I hope you enjoy all of these images, and that you proudly display them around your home like you have with the wedding photos I created for you.  It’s always so incredibly amazing when I get to watch families grow over the years.
