Personality Inspired Wedding Photography for Lovers
I’m headed out to do some camping this weekend but before I did, I wanted to quickly post an image from the session I did with local musical talent Fast Moving Mountains. First off, cool freakin’ name! Second, cool freakin’ music. Third, cool freakin’ style! So here it is, a single frame from our cover shoot session. I love that this image (among many others we shot) have a true editorial feel to them.
I’ve recently started falling back in love with simple portraiture. I was asked to photograph a session for another photographer and while editing her images, I came across this one that I loved in black & white. I’ll post more images here later, but a sample of what we created for now.
Her eyes are sucking me in.

I’m finally getting around to blogging the session with the mega talented DJ Shen. He is a musician, an artist a man passionate about his craft. We photographed this session for upcoming promotional material and some CD art work. It was a helluva cold night but Shen braved the night air for a few rad photos.
If you love bangin’ electro then you must check his site… Being an ex-DJ I can absolutely appreciate his style of music. If you plan on blasting this mix in your car be prepared to never travel below the speed limit and quite likely give yourself musical whiplash. You’ll love it. done. game over. sayonara.

Way too cool!!December 15, 2010 – 11:40 pm
Recently I was given the privilege of taking architectural images for the Executive Architects for the project – Zeidler Partnership Architects. While shooting the one-of-a-kind architecture in Canada (with the unparalleled view of Calgary), I thought it’d be fun to all snap some images of those people who put in an honest days work on the construction site. Those who dangle from 56 floors above ground level (again my palms just went sweaty as I typed that) to bolt, hammer, measure, push, pull, weld and various other enormous tasks as they work to complete the 2nd tallest building in Canada. What they do is some pretty amazing work. After just a few hours in the building I was exhausted from the walking, climbing and rail-gripping (there we go again…sweaty palms). These people do this all day every day. Here are just a small sample of the images that I captured of the hard working construction crew as they went about their daily business. Way up there.
It gets tight in the elevator. Nothing like having a steel girder up against the camera lens

Awesome photo’s. I love the detail of B&W, especially of people.
Question, is there any chance of using one of your photo’s for a photo journalism project that I have to do for my photography club. My plan is to take a photo at the bottom of the towere and then use my 500mm lens with a 2x tele from Crescent Heights for a photo of the top. My theme is safety and I would plan to superimpose a small version of one of your photo’s into one of mine (with credits of course).

Those were very educational Terence! It was like you took us into another world that we would never see & into the eyes of those that work up in the sky. This weekend was ultra busy for me. A fun filled weekend which included a family session, a wedding in Canmore, an engagement session, a corporoate headshot, and a couples session. Phew! I haven’t done that many shoots in a weekend in…actually, I’ve never done that many before. I seem to have come out of it relatively unscathed and able to still see straight (imagine 3 days of having one eye closed while the other is stapled to the camera viewfinder). Still… no complaints though. I have a dream job and for all the exhaustion that takes place in my bones, I still keep a massive smile on this big head (physically speaking, not ego) of mine.
Ok, on to the stuff you actually care about. Ridiculous photos. I had this idea for an image that I knew Jillian and Craig would play along with. I don’t know why I knew this..but I just did. Maybe having worked with Jillian before as a wedding coordinator with Inspired Occasions this past year gave me a sense of what she’d be up for. This image includes everything we love about photos and some things that others love to talk smack about.
Do you like props in photos? Hate them?
How about off camera flash?
Back alleys?
Pretty girls who smile?
Dudes that look confused?
Yeah, we got it all in one epicly awesome photo. Next time I’ll include camera tilt and fake Tilt-Shift.
For the record, I don’t care what elements a photographer includes in the photo as long as I understand why it’s being used. If it feels good, do it. Right? Ok. So with that in mind I can’t let an opportunity like this slip so…ta daaaa.
