Self Portraits: First time for everything

While on holidays I tried to do some self portraits of Terra and I.  Man, I suck at this.  I have no idea how many shots it took but it took me a freakishly long time to cull through all the back focused images.  This is tricky stuff!  Once I finally got the hang of it, we did manage to get some keepers.  I definitely wanna try doing this again but this time I’ll know what to do and maybe I can save myself the trouble of taking a brazillion frames to get the one good one.  I think the best images are the ones I handheld of Terra.  But hey, you tell me which you like best.  I promise you won’t hurt my feelings.

You can see the remote trigger in my hand in this first image.  I could clone it out, but would you believe that these were self-portraits otherwise?

Busted! I think this image would be better if I wasn’t staring at the camera.  What a dork.

These next two images of me are taken by Terra.  I’m trying to teach her how to use a camera.  She did pretty good!Vancouver portrait photographer

And finally, some landscape images of the places we were:

This image here I played around with tonal contrast.  It’s pretty extreme and I wouldn’t normally edit photos this way, but I thought it was rad how the details of the waves came out.  Move along, nothing more to see here.Vancouver portrait photographer

Kathy: for fun

Kathy is such a good friend of mine and I do value her friendship immensely.  We started off with just a simple relationship; she was my hairstylist (yes, I used to have hair).  Even when I started shaving my head I’d still go see her because of the great conversation’s we’d have and the awesome scalp massage she gives.  Seriously, the scalp massage alone is worth the fee!  You can find her down at Hed Kandi by Hotel Arts in downtown Calgary.

Part of this shoot was meant to be a portfolio shoot for Kathy as she’s about to take off on an exciting dance tour with her group.  I’m really excited for her and I can’t wait to see what she’s come up with.
